HOME ENTRY
Your keypad code will be added before you arrive and deleted at departure.
HOUSE RULES
For a majority of our guests, the "behave well, respect others property and clean up after yourselves" would cover almost everything :) but please read through all the house rules and make sure those in your group know and adhere to the house rules too.
REMOVE SHOES WHEN INSIDE
Please remove shoes from your feet and set them just inside the entrance door. Vacuuming and sweeping sand and dirt from flooring and rugs is difficult
TAP WATER
Tap water is drinkable. Though, with the older pipes, when no one has been staying in the house for a week or so, brown water will be seen when running the cold water and also in the toilet. Running the tap water for a minute will clear it up. Flushing the toilet 2-3 times will clear toilet water. There is a Brita filtered pitcher in the kitchen that we like to use.
NO SMOKING/VAPING
Please, no smoking/vaping on the premises at any time. That includes anywhere on the property, inside and outside. Please don't smoke on the front patio or anywhere on the property. Smoke has a way of entering doors and windows. Cleaning smoke from drapes and upholstery is expensive.
NO ILLEGAL ACTIVITY
The La Verkin regulation states, "Ensure that no guest or occupant engages in illegal or disorderly conduct or creates unreasonable noise or disturbance.
Thank you for adhering to this city regulation.
GUESTS
We don't allow extra guests. Also, no parties or gatherings of any kind are allowed.
CLOSET TO HANG CLOTHES
The Master bedroom has a wardrobe/armoire. There is also a clothes hanging rod in the bathroom hallway.
SOFA SLEEPER
There is a very nice sofa in the living room. To make it into a bed, lift off the cushions, then lift up on the two black straps to expand the mattresses. It is a significant "bed", queen size. please use the mattress protector and sheets that are on the shelf in the bathroom hallway.
BONUS ROOM
There are two bedrooms and a "bonus" room. The bonus room should not be used as a bedroom since it has no window.
PARKING:
There is plenty of parking in the driveway. We will let you know when we are in town so you can leave the circular drive space clear.
LOCK UP:
Safe neighborhood but lock outside door when you're home or away.
1. Entry door locks by touching the lock icon on the bottom right of the keypad. It helps to push or pull the door closed while touching the lock icon.
DESERT
You are in a desert here. We spray for insects (spiders, cockroaches', beetles) every month. Never leave the front door open as lizards, roaches, mice and such may enter. While I was working here in mid August 2022, I called to our youngest daughter who was detailing inside the fridge. She came outside and I pointed out a California King snake, which she picked up and held it for a while before letting it go in the backyard. King snakes are nice and help keep control of the mouse population :)
HEAT/AC:
There are two remote thermostat controls. One controls the living room and the other controls the master bedroom. Select the mode button, then choose "Heat" during the winter or "Cool" during the summer. Don't set it to "Auto" :) Please keep the remotes out of the reach of children. For summer, a setting of 72 is a good place to start. For winter, if the master bedroom doors are closed, a setting of 76 is good to start. once the bedroom is warm I like to sleep cooler ~69 -71.
COOKING EXHAUST
There is a fan on top of the fridge that you can turn on to help with heat and such while cooking. To increase air circulation while cooking, it helps to open a living room window a couple of inches.
CIRCULATING FANS
There are 3 circulating fans for your use.
COFFEE MAKER & TOASTER
You will find things such as a Coffee Maker in the top cupboard next to the stove & Toaster in the cupboard drawer next to the stove. You can also heat water in the coffee maker
HIKING AT ZION, SNOW CANYON, ET AL
We've been fortunate to have people from all over the U.S. come to explore the desert beauties, be careful!. We are so impressed by how respectful you are and how fun you are to communicate with. We've also noticed how respectful you are to the guests who will come after you... to the point of leaving things in great condition for the next friends who come to stay, hike/climb and enjoy!
CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT
Check-in time is after 4:00 PM
Check-out time is 11:00 AM
BEDROOMS
Please don't have, eat or take any food or drinks into the bedrooms or in the living room to keep bedding and sofa/carpets clean. please store dirty clothes and gear inside the entry door.
INTERNET WiFi - SMART TV
If needed, we have Internet (WIFI) available and a smart TV. You should have plenty of options... Hulu, Prime, Netflix..., which all require you to login with your account.
KITCHEN:
There are dishes and pots and pans for your use.
MICROWAVE
TRASH:
PICK UP DAY IS THURSDAY. PUT CANS AT CURB WEDNESDAY EVENING, or if you check out Wednesday morning, please put it at the curb then. The grey bin is for refuse.
There is a trash can in the kitchen and extra trash bags in the cabinet next to it.
CLEANING
There is a broom and dust pan next to the fridge or in the closet at the other end of he kitchen. There are cleaning clothes under the kitchen sink, paper towels, and such. If you spill liquids, drop food on the floor, please wipe/sweep it up as soon as possible. Please don't use white bath towels to clean up messes. Thank you.
FIRST AID KIT/SUPPLIES:
There are first aid supplies in the kitchen cupboard by the trash can.
Let us know if we need to replenish any first aid supplies.
BATHROOM:
Don’t flush sanitary items. Put them in the garbage can that is next to the toilet. When showering, if the bottom of the door comes off the track, it can be easily snapped back into the track when you are in the shower with the door closed.
LAUNDRY:
The Washer and Dryer are in a separate room. To get there, go out the entrance door, then to the right. The shed is on the left and the laundry room is on the right.
Washer: to turn the washer on, you don't need to "press" the button, just gently rest your finger over the on icon.
Dryer: I usually select Timed Dry for 30 minutes on Medium heat and check to see if the clothes are dry and if needed I set additional time after that. Of course, towels take much longer than sheets.
SAFETY & SECURITY:
A fire extinguisher is located on the wall in the kitchen area.
CO2 and Smoke Detector
There is a smoke/CO2 detector in each bedroom and outside of each bedroom.
The house has some childproofing but don’t leave children unsupervised as there are plastic garbage bags in bathroom drawers, cleaning supplies under sinks and possibly other hazards.
FEEL THE PEACE:
We think you'll feel at home here. The streets are wide, the air is fresh and the night sky full of stars!
THINGS TO BRING OR PICK UP ON ARRIVAL:
We provide enough to get you settled. For large groups or stays longer than a couple of days you may need to pick up Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, possibly dishwashing or laundry detergen... There are a few kitchen essentials although they may get depleted. We restock when we're in town.
HAVE WHAT YOU NEED
Let us know if we need to get anything to make your time at our place better. We can't/won't guarantee every request, but we did have someone ask if there was a fire pit at one of our properties and we had a cement patio poured and got patio chairs and a fire pit before they arrived!
Thank you and Enjoy your stay.
